Safety Risk Assessment

The risk analysis discipline applied to transport infrastructures represents a core of Rizzo Engineering

In the field of transport systems safety, the following services can be provided:

• hazard identification analysis and operability (HAZID, HAZOP)
• Interface Hazard Analysis (IHA)
• hazard frequency estimation, consequence assessment, quantitative risk assessment
• determination of risk acceptability criteria

The above techniques and activities, used independently or in combination, aim at identifying potential hazardous areas and possible remediation measures, that should comply with applicable national and local regulations. Simulation and modelling of emergency scenarios can be implemented, such as for safety appraisal of transport systems in confined spaces, with specific knowledge of fire risk for rail, road and maritime scenarios.  The evaluation of the influence of human factors on the management of transport systems is addressed as well.
